On 21st June, 2016 the first robotic kidney autotransplant in Australia was undertaken at Westmead Private Hospital using the da Vinci Si Surgical System. The combined resources and expertise of both Westmead Private and Westmead Hospital's surgical teams enabled this to occur. The awesome team consisted of Prof Howard Lau, Dr Scott Leslie, A/Prof Henry Pleass, A/Prof Vincent Lam, Dr Ann Chee, Renan and Mark Liu and our wonderful theatre staff.
International Recognition for World Class Breastfeeding Support

Today we received International recognition for our world class breastfeeding support service. Decalie Brown, President of International Lactation Consultants Association visited today to present the IBCLC Care Award to staff. We congratulate our staff on working hard to achieve this prestigious award which was given for conducting activities that demonstrate promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding. This award is one of only three awards which has been given out in Australia and is the only one for NSW this year.
Giving Hope to Men with Infertility

Dr Shannon Kim, Urologist at Westmead Private Hospital is giving hope to men with infertility. She successfully undertook Ejaculatory Duct Obstruction (EDO) surgery on two young men with great success. EDO can cause pelvic pain and male infertility.

Volunteering overseas has always been something that I was passionate about doing, with a trip at the end of 2015 to Nepal with another Ramsay Colleague already planned. When the Nepalese Nurses Association however made an international appeal asking for help following the devastation of an 8.1 earthquake, and aftershock of 7.3 some few weeks later, which resulted in more than 9000 people killed and more than 23,000 injured, I knew I wanted to help in any way possible.

Three year old Thomas Bollinger was born prematurely, he has had many challenges with his health, whilst his twin Michelle thrived, life was more difficult for Thomas. For the past three years Thomas has lived a life without sound, but this will soon change. Thomas underwent a bilateral cochlear implant, performed by A/Prof Melville Da Cruz (Ear, Nose & Throat Surgeon), at Westmead Private Hospital on Wednesday 11th March.
