Maternity: Childbirth & Parenting Education Program

Childbirth & Parenting Education Program

Westmead Private Hospital has committed to planning and providing a comprehensive childbirth and parenting program to prepare parents for the birth of their child. Classes include a tour of the maternity unit. Our educators are all experienced clinicians and are employed within our Maternity Unit. This ensures a continuum of care from the hospital into the community.

We offer a Childbirth & Parenting Program as a 6 week programme or as a weekend workshop.

Childbirth & Parenting - 6 week series (Evenings)

Designed for couples to meet & share experiences with other expectant parents. These series consist of a 2 hour session, one evening per week (Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) for 6 weeks. These sessions provide information about labour, pain relief, practical skills for use during labour, as well as exploring the transition to parenting and the early newborn period.

Childbirth & Parenting - 2 day workshop (Saturday or Sundays)

Conducted over 2 consecutive Saturdays or Sundays, 6 hours per session, this workshop covers the same information offered in the 6 week series.

All of the above sessions are held at Westmead Private Hospital.  The sessions are friendly, interactive and supportive of your needs and are restricted to 12 couples to maintain this teaching environment.
