Our Doctors: Acute cardiac referral service
Acute cardiac referral service
TAKE COMFORT IN OUR TECHNOLOGY
The acute Cardiac referral service provides for all cardiac emergencies on a 24-hour basis, allowing immediate medical and nursing assessment for all presentations. Initial assessment and diagnosis will occur in the Critical Care Unit, concurrent to the continuation of pre-hospital therapies. This aims to promote optimal health outcomes for the patient from a team focused approach between the Ambulance Service and the hospital staff.
Two interventional cardiac catheterisation laboratories support this service with the ability to provide primary angioplasty for acute myocardial infarction. Full ranges of cardiothoracic and intensive care resources are also available, as well as cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, multi-ring CT and nuclear medicine scanning.
Private patients will experience no out of pocket expense for initial clinical assessment and most subsequent services should be covered by Medicare and Health Funds. The service will accept referrals from LMO, Specialist Consultants or directly from the Ambulance Service.
Contacting the Cardiac Acute Referral Service is made using the direct telephone number (ph. 8837 9266), which will be responded to by either a member of the medical or nursing staff in the Critical Care Unit.
