Surgical Procedures
Westmead Private Hospital undertakes an extensive range of surgical procedures. In particular, the Hospital has positioned itself as a centre of excellence in orthopaedic, urology, ear, nose and throat and general surgery.
Day Surgery
A wide range of day procedures are undertaken in Westmead Private Hospital Day Surgery Unit including endoscopy, colonoscopy, orthopaedic, plastic and reconstructive surgery, eye day surgery and minor general surgery.
Cardiac Catheter Laboratory
The state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheter Suite, featuring the most sophisticated, automated digital medical imaging equipment, is fully operational at Westmead Private Hospital. The Laboratory can perform the very latest tests and procedures in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.

Cardiac Acute Referral Service
Westmead Private Hospital offers a Cardiac Acute Referral Service 24 hours, 7 days a week, along with Cardiologist, intensive care and anaesthetic cover.
Cardiology Services
Westmead Private is renowned for its specialised cardiology services. Utilising 14 monitored private beds and 2 cardiac catheterisation laboratories. The Cardiovascular Ward is staffed by specialist nurses who care for patient’s pre and post Cath Lab procedures, pre and post cardiac surgeries and medical management of conditions including chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias etc. Patients and their visitors are well supported and have education provided regarding their condition and management.
Day Oncology
The Day Oncology Unit operates 5 days a week Monday – Friday. We treat medical and haematology oncology patients and administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions and other day only admission treatments.
Intensive Care Unit
Westmead Private ICU is a 12 bed unit capable of caring for all patients. A major part of the workload is cardiac and neurosurgical patients. Advanced monitoring, ventilation and other adjunctive therapies are performed in the Unit.
An Intensive Care Specialist and Registrar/RMO look after all patients. Recently the Unit has been approved for 12/12 registrar training by JFICM.
