Other services

Pathology

Douglass Hanly Moir, a private specialist pathology service, provides 24 hour service to hospital inpatients. They also provide outpaitent services. If you have a pathology service performed whilst you are in hospital, a separate account may be sent to you which can be claimed from Medicare and your health fund.

Pharmacy

A pharmacy service is provided by an independent pharmacy on-site. Pharmacists will attend frequent rounds of each ward daily. They will dispense medications as requested by your Specialist and explain new medications to you. Some medications are additional to your hospital charges. If applicable, these will be added to your hospital account and payable on discharge. You will need to collect and pay for your discharge medications prior to leaving the hospital.

Physiotherapy

An independent physiotherapy practice provides comprehensive assessment and treatment to hospital inpatients. Physiotherapy is often a routine part of certain procedures or may be ordered by your treating doctor. For certain physiotherapy services a separate account will be sent to you which you may be able to claim from your health fund. Where possible, all fees and charges will be discussed with you prior to the commencement of treatment.

Radiology

Symbion Imaging offers radiology services on-site from 6am - 6pm Monday to Friday. On-call services are available 24 hours a day for inpatients. Services available include: general x-rays, screening procedures, interventional procedures, CT (spiral) scans, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, OPG and biopsies. All x-rays belong to you and should be taken home on discharge.
