Westmead Celebrates its 10th Anniversary

In 2010, Westmead Private Hospital celebrates 10 years of caring for the western Sydney community. A 140 bed private hospital collocated with Westmead public hospital, the Westmead Private Hospital now provides an extensive range of onsite medical, surgical, diagnostic and supports services.

Westmead Private Hospital was built by Alpha Health Care in 1999. Alpha Health Care was purchased by Ramsay Health Care in April 2001 and Westmead Private Hospital is now owned by Ramsay Health Care Limited, a publicly-listed Australian company whose name is synonymous with quality in private health care.

Since its opening almost ten years ago, Westmead Private has achieved some major milestones including 17,000 births and 130,000 operations. Westmead Private operates one of the busiest private maternity units in Sydney.

In recent years, the hospital has introduced and become a leader in areas such as neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, ENT surgery and surgical treatment for patients with bone metabolic disorder. The Hospital has become well recognized for interventional cardiology, major general and upper gastrointestinal surgery, laparoscopic, urology and gynaecological surgery, vascular and plastic surgery, complex orthopaedic surgery including joints, foot and ankle, shoulder and hand surgery.
