Our Maternity Services

Fetal Monitoring Clinic (CTG)

This service is available when your Obstetrician wishes to monitor you and your baby as an outpatient prior to delivery. Appointments are made by your Obstetrician. The clinic is run by our midwifery team in consultation with your doctor. The clinic is located next to the Birth Suite.

Physiotherapy

Westmead Private Physiotherapy Services is responsible for providing physiotherapy care to our mothers. Free postnatal physiotherapy classes, in which appropriate exercises are demonstrated and discussed, are run three times a week. All mothers are invited to attend these classes.

In addition, individual consultation can be arranged for specific musculoskeletal and/or continence problems (there may be a cost involved with individual consultations). Outpatient physiotherapy can be arranged through Westmead Private Physiotherapy Services – located in Westmead (9633 1035), Blacktown (9672 3511), Penrith (4721 5788) or Bella Vista (8814 5551) rooms both during your pregnancy and after your discharge from hospital.

Infant Feeding Support Centre

• Drop in support during your postnatal stay for feeding assistance
• Education support
• Written information support for non-English speaking women

Please note the Infant Feeding Support Centre is unattended between the hours of 12.30–1.00pm and 5.30–6.00pm.

If you are having an elective caesarean section - your baby will transfer with both you and your partner to the Recovery Ward for early feeding and skin to skin contact with the support of one of our "infant feeding specialists" (some exclusions apply)

Postnatal bedside clinical care, support and education - one on one support

Postnatal education program

During your stay we offer a variety of parenting classes for you and your partner. We also have an In-house TV education channel for you to prepare your family for the journey ahead. 

Partners/Support Person Overnight Stay

One partner/support person is able to stay overnight at no charge. Under no circumstances are children able to stay overnight.

Parking

For your convenience we have designated parking areas for visitors. Disabled parking is also available at the front entrance and side of the building. In addition we have free 15 minute drop off and pick up within the hospital. Please pay for parking at the pay machine located in the atrium. 

The option of long term parking is additionally available for maternity patients

• Cost $120 (price as of 1st July 24)
• The ticket is valid for 4 months
• Can be purchased from Westmead Private Hospital Reception
• If purchased at 26 weeks, the ticket will last you to discharge from hospital after the birth of your baby

Please note long term parking is valid only for patients and their support person who are booked into Westmead Private for the delivery of their baby. The long term parking card is not transferrable.

Just for you

Westmead Private Hospital offers a personalised baby photography service. We also offer wireless internet access and have an internet kiosk. More information on all of these services will be available during your stay.

Special Care Nursery

Westmead Private Hospital provides you with the reassurance that should your baby require intensive care support, a specially equipped Special Care Nursery is available on-site. In the event of your baby being born prematurely or very ill, transfer to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit can be organised without delay.

Please contact your health fund provider to confirm your health fund level of cover. For both yourself and your baby, check that you have Special Care Nursery cover if required during your admission.

Antenatal Learning Centre

Our on-line Antenatal Program - Ramsay Healthcare Antenatal Learning Centre has been designed to provide a more flexible approach to gaining information to allow you to make informed choices and decisions about your maternity care. This program is a great addition to our face to face Childbirth and Parenting Program and can also be used as a refresher for families who have already experienced the pregnancy journey. Following confirmation of your maternity booking our RTI support team will contact you via email with login details and user instructions to access our online antenatal program which will give you access for a six month period.
