ATM & mail

An ATM is available in the Atrium, located on the ground level. All correspondence is delivered to and collected from the ward daily.

Chaplaincy service

Pastoral care volunteers can be organised to visit you during your inpatient stay. Please ask the ward staff to arrange a visit.

Coffee shop

Infusions Café is located in the hospital atrium for patients and visitors, offering delicious beverages, cakes, sandwiches and a daily hot meal selection. Opening hours are: 7.00am to 7.00pm weekdays, 9.00am to 3.00pm Saturdays and 10.00am to 1.00pm Sundays. Please note that the coffee service finishes 30 minutes prior to closing time. Public Holidays will have reduced operating hours.

Department of Veterans Affairs

A Veterans Affairs Liaison Coordinator is available from 8am - 4.00pm Monday to Friday. Please ask the ward staff to arrange a visit.

Emails from family & friends

Friends and relatives are welcome to send you an email during your stay in hospital by logging on to our website. Messages are printed and delivered daily.

Faxes

Faxes can be sent or received on your behalf. Please ask the ward staff for assistance.

Florist

Floral Prescriptions is located on the ground floor next to the Front Reception.

Hairdresser

A hairdresser service is available by appointment, please advise the nurse who will organise an appointment for you

Housekeeping services

Your room will be cleaned daily. Please notify a member of the nursing staff if you have concerns about any aspect of the Housekeeping Service.

Internet access

Wifi is available throughout the hospital. See any of our reception desks for login details. 

Interpreter services

The Translating and Interpreter Service (TIS) is available 24 hours a day and provides a free interpreting service for doctors and specialists. If you would like an interpreter at any stage of your hospitalisation, please speak with your doctor or nurse. Westmead Private Hospital is happy to assist with these arrangements. Please be aware, there are a small number of exceptions to the provision of free services. Compensation case patients, non-permanent residents and services not booked under the doctor are not eligible for free services. In these cases, charges apply.

Laundry services

Westmead Private Hospital does not have an onsite laundry therefore, should you require laundry services, this is best arranged with your relatives or friends. In special circumstances laundry can be taken to the local laundry mat, charges apply.

Newspapers/magazines

A wide selection of newspapers and magazines are available for purchase from our volunteers who will visit your room each weekday. Weekend newspapers are available from Reception. These items are also available from our Pharmacy located on the ground floor.

Pathology

Douglass Hanly Moir, a private specialist pathology service, provides 24 hour service to hospital inpatients. They also provide outpatient services. If you have a pathology service performed whilst you are in hospital, a separate account may be sent to you which can be claimed from Medicare and your health fund.

Pharmacy

A pharmacy service is provided by an independent pharmacy on-site. Pharmacists will attend frequent rounds of each ward daily. They will dispense medications as requested by your Specialist and explain new medications to you. Some medications are additional to your hospital charges. If applicable, these will be added to your hospital account and payable on discharge. You will need to collect and pay for your discharge medications prior to leaving the hospital.

Physiotherapy

An independent physiotherapy practice provides comprehensive assessment and treatment to hospital inpatients. Physiotherapy is often a routine part of certain procedures or may be ordered by your treating doctor. For certain physiotherapy services a separate account will be sent to you which you may be able to claim from your health fund. Where possible, all fees and charges will be discussed with you prior to the commencement of treatment.

Radiology

I-Med Radiology offers radiology services on-site. On-call services are also available 24 hours a day for inpatients.

Services available include: MRI - CT - Ultrasound - 3D Mammograms - X-Ray - Image Guided Injections - OPG – Biopsies.

All x-rays and scans belong to you and should be taken home on discharge.

Volunteers

Volunteers at Westmead Private Hospital find it meaningful to help patients, our staff and their community. By using their varied skills and working with people throughout many areas of the hospital, they form valuable friendships and enjoy the fellowship of others.

Our Volunteer Program supports us with patient comfort and companionship (for local patients and also our French speaking patients), greeting and assisting patients and visitors at our reception, tending to patient flowers and visiting patients with items for sale (like magazines, newspapers, toiletries and snack foods).
