The safety of our patients, staff, visitors, and doctors is always our top priority. We have been proactively planning and implementing a comprehensive response to the evolving COVID-19 situation in Australia. In light of recent developments, a decision has been made to postpone our maternity tours for the time being. We will provide an update with new information in the coming weeks. We know that seeing our facility is an important part of choosing where you will have your baby, ensuring our hospital is the right choice for you and your partner. At Westmead Private we offer Live Zoom Virtual Tours with one of our experienced Midwives on Tuesday evenings, commencing at 7.00pm. You can register in advance or on the evening, and after registering you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the online meeting.

Face to face tours are also held on Thursday afternoons at Westmead Private (please note that our full Childbirth and Parenting education sessions also include a tour).

Tour group sizes are limited and require a booking. On the tour we welcome the birthing parent as well as one other adult partner/support person. We kindly request that children do not attend the tour due to group sizes. If attending, please meet at the reception lounge area in front of the pharmacy 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. Tours will run for approximately 1 hour. Maternity rooms including the birthing suite, postnatal rooms, and luxury parenting suites will be shown on the tour subject to availability. Costs for obstetric, anaesthetic and paediatric services are contracted between yourself and the individual practitioner & may attract additional fees. Please discuss fees and costs with the individual specialist. See Payment Information

Your card will be given to you by your Obstetrician at your first appointment. Please carry it with you at all times.
Yes, WIFI is available to inpatients and visitors. Go to WiFi in your settings. Choose WiFi Ramsay. Your internet browser will automatically open and you will be prompted with the ‘Welcome to Ramsay WiFi. Enter your details as required. N.B. Your MRN is created on admission and can be found on your wristband.

Entrance to Westmead Private Hospital can be gained by using the entrance on Mons Road. There is parking available on-site, either directly underneath the hospital or along the Eastern side of the building. please see the map below. Click here for more parking information.

We offer a maternity long-term parking rate, valid for 4 months, for $120 (price as of 1 July 2024).

Please contact the Birth Suite if you have any questions or concerns on (02) 8837 9187 or (02) 8837 9189. Our telephone is answered by midwives 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We are also in 24 hour contact with your obstetrician. It is very important to contact the Birth Suite if any of the following occurs;

  • Your waters break or you notice continuous leaking of fluid from the vagina
  • If you have vaginal bleeding
  • Onset of contractions before 37 weeks
  • Onset of regular contractions after 37 weeks that remain persistent or change in frequency or intensity
  • If you are concerned about the movement of your baby
  • If you feel unwell
  • If you have any concerns regarding your pregnancy or onset of labour
  • If you feel concerned or anxious

Prior to coming to the hospital please ensure that you telephone the midwives in the Birth Suite to notify them of your imminent arrival. Phone number: (02) 8837 9189 or (02) 8837 9187.

Please do not give the Birth Suite telephone number to your friends or family as it is for patients and doctors only.

Admittance to Westmead Private Hospital can be gained by using the Mons Road entrance, located on the Eastern side of the building. To ensure the safety of all patients and staff the hospital doors are locked overnight. There is a buzzer on the left hand side of the entrance, when buzzed a midwife will answer and will open the doors for you.

  • Breast pads and maternity bras
  • 3 packets of sanitary pads and underpants (one week supply)
  • Nightwear, with open front if you are intending to breast feed
  • Comfortable clothes for daytime
  • Toiletries, tissues
  • Reading material / writing material and pen
  • Outfit to take baby home in (including wraps). During your stay we provide all clothing, nappies and wraps for your baby
  • Hairdryer (must be electrical checked by our maintenance team prior to use)
  • Slippers or comfortable shoes
  • Child restraint for car – capsule or seat correctly fitted
  • Large T-shirt, sarong
  • Antenatal card
  • Lip balm
  • Hair brush and clip or hair tie
  • Gel heat packs (wheat NOT permitted)
  • Camera and charger
  • Water spray
  • Massage oil
  • Toiletries
  • Socks
  • Tennis ball, or massage tool
  • Sweets to suck on
  • Relaxation music
  • Snacks for partner
  • Money for parking

Prior to coming to the hospital, please ensure that you telephone the Birth Suite staff on (02) 8837 9189 or (02) 8837 9187 to notify them of your imminent arrival. Admittance to Westmead Private Hospital can be gained by using the entrance accessed via Mons Road. There is parking available on the Eastern side of the hospital or in the car parking areas located under the hospital.

When you arrive on-site please head straight up in the lift (located next to the Pharmacy) to the maternity unit on level 1 where our staff will be waiting on your arrival.

We encourage you to leave anything of value, such as jewelry, at home. Westmead Private Hospital is unable to accept responsibility for the loss of valuables or money.

All electrical equipment that is to be used whilst you are in Hospital, must be tested and approved prior to use. For your own safety we recommended that you bring only essential equipment with you into Hospital (eg CPAP machine). However, in the event that you do need to bring electrical equipment with you, we ask that you liaise with your nurse for your device to be checked.

Under no circumstances should you use electrical equipment in the bathroom.
