Westmead Private Hospital opens a new "State of the Art" Angiography Laboratory

Westmead Private Hospital is pleased to announce the opening of its 2nd "State of the Art" Angiography Laboratory.

The new single plane machine allows for a comprehensive range of diagnostic and interventional procedures for cardiac, vascular and neurosurgical patients and will complement and extend our ability to provide these services to the community.

The new machine (Siemens Artis zee) offers outstanding 3D image quality for our Specialists which will enable them to care for their patients with greater speed, efficiency and precision. The Artis zee system has the CARE (Combined Applications to Reduce Radiation Exposure) package that reduces the radiation dose for patients without compromising image quality.

A/Prof David Richards said "The new Lab brings our facility at Westmead Private Hospital up to date with the latest imaging and processing capacity and will facilitate a range of procedures including the treatment of cerebral and other aneuryms. The new lab will improve image quality for coronary stenting and the improved fluoroscopy will facilitate treatment of a variety of heart rhythm disorders".

Acting Chief Executive Officer Penny Wright said "The hospital is excited to be offering such cutting edge technology to our patients, which will help us deliver enhanced, faster and more effective care".

The Lab will commence clinical work on Tuesday 14th June.
