Dr Ashraf Dower is an Australian-trained neurosurgeon with international fellowship training in minimally invasive spine surgery from the University of Miami Hospital in the United States. He manages a broad range of neurosurgical conditions, including cranial and spinal tumours, degenerative disc pathology and nerve compression syndromes. He has an interest in advanced spinal techniques, including minimally invasive approaches, endoscopic procedures and fusions.
Dr Dower currently consults and operates at several locations across Sydney, including Westmead, Penrith and North Sydney. He completed a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Honours Class I) and Doctor of Medicine from the University of New South Wales and undertook his neurosurgical training across several leading institutions in Australia and New Zealand, including Liverpool, Nepean, St George and Westmead Hospitals, and Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, NZ. He was awarded a Master of Surgery (Neurosurgery) at the University of Sydney in 2017 and gained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2024.
Dr Dower completed a 12-month advanced spinal fellowship at the University of Miami under the mentorship of internationally renowned spine surgeon Dr Michael Wang. He continues to incorporate these cutting-edge techniques into his practice, with a strong commitment to research, surgical innovation, and high-quality patient care.
