Dr Gaya Jayasinghe is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist offering comprehensive care in both obstetrics and gynaecology to patients.
Known for her warm and approachable nature, Dr Jayasinghe takes the time to truly listen to her patients, ensuring they feel heard, supported, and empowered in their healthcare journey. She understands that pregnancy, birth, and women’s health experiences are deeply personal and life-changing—not just for her patients but for their whole families. As such, she is committed to delivering kind, individualised care that respects each woman’s unique needs, making their experience as positive and special as possible.
Dr Jayasinghe completed her specialist training at Westmead Hospital, where she was Clinical Superintendent (Senior Registrar) in her final year. She trained extensively in advanced laparoscopic gynaecological surgery and was awarded Registrar of the Year for her dedication and excellence. She was also awarded a RANZCOG funded fellowship in Papua New Guinea, where she provided critical care in resource-limited settings, focusing on high-risk obstetrics, complex vaginal births, and operative gynaecology.
At Westmead Hospital, she leads specialised services in Breech, Hyperemesis, and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and is actively involved in medical education as a RANZCOG training supervisor and clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney.
Dr Jayasinghe speaks Sinhalese and values culturally sensitive, patient centred care.
