Dr Robert Molnar

MBBS BSc(med) FRACS(orth)

Dr Molnar is a Sydney trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest in hip, knee and trauma surgery. He underwent Fellowship training in both joint replacement surgery and trauma, in Australia and at Harborview Medical Centre (USA). He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian Colleague of Surgeons, and a member of both the Arthroplasty Society and the Hip Joint Preservation Society.

To reduce recovery time and improve the overall outcomes for patients, where possible, Dr Molnar operates using minimally invasive techniques combined with computer navigation. This has proven to result in less pain, injury to tissue and scarring while resulting in greater accuracy in treatment.

Dr Molnar has an interest in research; overseeing his own research as well as being part of multicentre trials and a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Research Consortium.  He actively participates in teaching activities, regularly lecturing to other Orthopaedic Surgeons, trainees, medical students and nursing staff. He is a faculty member of AO Australasia and has presented at local and international conferences.

• Computer assisted Joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee
• Revision arthroplasty for failed, painful or infected prosthetic joints
• Management of hip, knee and pelvic trauma
• Arthroscopic surgery of the hip and knee, including:

  • ACL reconstruction
  • Sports knee surgery
  • Hip arthroscopy
  • Labral repair
  • Femero-acetabular impingement (FAI) hip surgery
