Dr Matthew Jones

MBBS BSc FRACS

Dr Matt Jones is an Australian-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest in hip and knee arthroplasty, revision arthroplasty, sports knee reconstruction and trauma.

Matt was born in London, UK and went to school in Bath. He studied anatomy and developmental biology before medicine at University College London. After completing residency in Exeter he and his wife migrated to Perth, Western Australia to experience medicine in a new environment. It was here that he met Professor Piers Yates and Professor David Wood, who fostered his development and supported his application to the Australian Orthopaedic Association training program. He was admitted to the Sydney northside training program in 2013.

Matt successfully passed the orthopaedic fellowship exam in May 2017. Since then he has completed three local fellowships, with Dr Ali Gürsel (arthroplasty), Dr Bu Balalla and Dr David Broe (sports knee), and Dr Robert Molnar (arthroplasty and pelvic trauma). He is currently a locum consultant at Westmead public hospital.

Matt is approachable, well-informed and compassionate. He takes time to listen to his patients and formulates treatment plans that are evidence-based to ensure excellent outcomes.
