Dr Maylene Pineda is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a longstanding passion and commitment in this field for over 20 years. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists with Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound and Masters of Philosophy in Medicine from the University of Sydney. Dr Pineda is a staff specialist additionally trained in Maternal Fetal Medicine. She is a clinical lead in Perinatal Ultrasound, Maternal Fetal Medicine Department and High Risk Clinic providing quality perinatal care. Dr Pineda divides her time between her current role as the Head of the Department of Obstetrics in Nepean Hospital and as a partner in Parramatta Ultrasound for Women.
She manages a full range of obstetric and gynaecologic care with an interest in high risk pregnancies, perinatal ultrasound and gynaecological assessments. Dr Pineda is an author of several publications and a conjoint lecturer at the University of Sydney, teaching medical students, resident medical officers, registrars and midwifery staff. She is also involved in the revision and implementation of hospital guidelines and clinical governance.
Dr Pineda is described as a caring person by both patients and colleagues. As a mother herself, her kind and gentle demeanour allows her to empathise with and relate well with her patients. She is married and enjoys spending time with her young family and home cooking.
Her main goal is to foster the highest level of care in women’s health.
