(Cjt) Associate Professor Aniruddh (Ani) Deshpande is a Paediatric Surgeon with an interest in paediatric urology. He holds an appointment in Paediatric Urology and Surgery at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney.
Following completion of surgical training in Adult and Paediatric Surgery, he completed Fellowship training in Paediatric Urology and also completed a PhD at the University of Sydney on Disorders of the Urinary Bladder in Children.
As a clinician, Aniruddh believes strongly in establishing rapport, setting rational goals of treatment and working jointly with parents and carers as an empathetic team to achieve the best outcomes for the child. His clinical interests include all aspects of paediatric urology, including incontinence.
Aniruddh is an active clinician researcher who is passionate about improving treatment outcomes and treatment experience for children and carers with urinary tract problems, especially complex and refractory bladder problems. He has pioneered ambulatory and non-invasive urodynamics in New South Wales and supports the multidisciplinary Urinary Incontinence Service at the Westmead Children’s Hospital. Aniruddh has developed a strong clinical and research track record in the area of paediatric urology and urinary incontinence in children. He collaborates extensively in clinical and research space with colleagues around Australia. He currently supervises 3 PhD students for research into his areas of interest and is a contact Editor for the Cochrane Collaboration (incontinence).
Aniruddh is keen on sports and is a self-confessed cricket tragic.
