Dr Nicholas Cocco is a General and Bariatric Surgeon, having trained in New South Wales, ACT and Victoria. He is currently a fourth-year consultant in bariatric surgery having spent the past years practicing at Lakeview and Westmead hospitals in Sydney.
With a commitment to advancing knowledge and improving patient outcomes, Dr Cocco combines extensive academic training with practical experience. His post-fellowship training focused on kidney and pancreas transplant surgery, as well as acute general, laparoscopic and vascular procedures. Dr Cocco is passionate in enhancing surgical care and patient safety.
Dr Cocco is a member of General Surgeons Australia, the Australian & New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders. He is passionate about obesity management and believes that it has a strong potential to treat secondary morbidities including hypertension, diabetes, depression and infertility. Hence, he believes bariatric surgery increases the chances of achieving overall general health.
When treating his patients, Dr Cocco applies a highly flexible, person-centred approach. He enjoys meeting and speaking with his patients, and understands that in his field of work a personalised approach for treatment is needed. He is dedicated to prioritising individual patient concerns and goals during his consultations.
